The Link Calibre 5 Day-Date displays the day and date in an angled window with silver edges at 6. With all the new Link Series features, this watch is available in steel, with black or silver dial.

With its simple design and a beautiful mixture of brushed and polished finishes, Tag Heuer Link Calibre 5 Day-Date watch reached the avant-garde fashion and a pure aesthetic form, which makes this collection the most elegant under Tag Heuer’s range. Along with the characteristic bracelet which is the most authentic part of the watch, this model offers another designer’s masterpiece – a vertically textured dial with two windows that display date and day.

First launched in 1987 as the S/el (“S” signifies style, while “el” means elegance), this collection was the second Tag Heuer’s innovation after the Swiss company had changed its owner, two years earlier. (Firstly, Tag Heuer introduced the Formula 1 Line.) The S/el Collection changed its name into Link after the characteristic “Double-S” shaped links in the bracelet. Being the most distinctive element of the entire collection, this bracelet has preserved the basic form, but every other part has been permanently updated to the perfection.

In Tag Heuer’s catalog, you can still find (in the moment of writing) the Link Calibre 5 Day-Date from 2010, as well as the latest 2011 model. The main difference between these models is in the position of the day window. Wile the model from 2010 features this unique curved window at the top of the dial (at the 12 o’clock position), the 2011 model comes with both windows (day and date) at the 6 o’clock position. It is hard to say which solution is better. In my opinion, the first one looks nicer, but the latest version seems like the more functional one, since it provides both information at a glance.

Either black or white, a beautifully designed dial with vertically lined pattern features luminescent hands and hand-applied hour markers, as well as the Monochrome Tag Heuer’s logo and the Link inscription. The 2010 model has an interesting design of the outer rim, with words that indicate hours instead of numbers. While it incorporates a clear polished steel bezel, the 2011 model features a bezel with Arabic or Roman numbers that indicate hours.

Tag Heuer Link Calibre 5 Day-Date watch has a mid-size, 42 mm case, made of stainless steel. The Swiss watchmaker made an exceptional job, combining brushed and polished finishes on both case and bracelet, which eventually reduces the reflection of the sunlight.
